I just read the newspaper article, and I think you need to wait your turn in line like others do. Why should you get special treatment while others fill out the papers properly and wait their turn? You think becasue you have money and by complaining the loudest to the newspaper you should get special treatment? People are dying all over the world to come to this country. Stop blaming others for not making the papers out correctly. Take responsibility for yourself. I can't believe the woman has a PHD and teaches children's immigration, but says she wasn't told about a change. Give me a break. You need to blame yourself. Fill out your papers and go get in line like everyone else, and wait your turn.

I think stb is out of line.
The child is a relative, that above everything else, should make adoption easier. I think the family should be raising this issue because if they don't who else will? The seem to have the resources to, so why not point out the flaws in the system that others are most likely encountering? Besides, they have waited in line, they have filled out the correct paper work and done everything they are supposed to for an international adoption only to be informed that the rules had changed at the last minute. I say good for them.

Stb, you have a lot of anger and frustration obviously. What is it about your empty life, filled with so much bitterness and disappointment, that you have to take it out on this family adopting Kristina?

Obviously you are too angry to even read the article, if you bother to read at all. Where in the article saids this is a rich family or they tried to elbow their way in this process? These accusation are your own pathetic projections, not reality. Since you can't read, let me summarize for you: They DID fill out the papers, but the time it took for the adoption to occur screwed up the process. This family did everything that they are supposed to do, but according to the article, someone working in government misled them in the midst of the changing of international law.

Geeze, someone working at immigration screwed up,
"Stb" is surprised! Guess what, this wouldn't be the last instance where US government workers screwed up. For those who seems to have a lot of faith in our federal government workers, how could you know what goes on when the family talked to immigration? It might be news to "Stb", but our government got lots of problems, for anyone who bother to read news (unlike "stb" here). May I remind you, this is the same government that screwed up Katrina, and the aftermath. Yes, government workers screwed up, SHOCKING!

Let's be honest, most of these government workers work in government instead of private sector, because most companies wouldn't hire them. And there is very little consequences when government workers screwed up their job because of various reason, and they become lazy and uncaring.

And guess what, this couple is NOT the only couple running into this problem. On ABC news 06/11/2008, another American woman is trying to adopt a girl from Vietname, and she ran into problems because of something about the changing adoption law, same problem Kristian's family encounter here, and couldn't bring her little girl back, so she ended up staying in Vietnam to sort out this mess. This is not unique case.

So "stb", why don't you take your own advice, take responsibility about your own empty life instead of wasting time blasting others on blogs? You're really sad little person.

To Kristina's family, please ignore some of the uncaring Americans posting here, they got mental problems. I hope this can be resolved, I wish Kristin will be coming with you back to USA soon.

What can we do to help? Why won't they "grandfather" you in, as you were so close to completion of this adoption? But it seems you can't even reach a single person to answer that for you. I am sorry you are going through such a frustrating experience.

What folks don't realize that not only is adoption a complicated endeavor, but international adoption is even more so! Add to that the process is a complete mess with one had of the government not knowing what the other is doing...it boggles the mind our own government functions at all.
